TBN Book Club

TBN Book Club NYC was founded in 2019 with the goal of promoting reading among Black communities and reclaiming Black stories and identities through literature and other art forms. The club consists of 15 members who meet every third Sunday of the month to discuss books chosen by one of the members. To ensure inclusivity and participation, each member selects three books, and the rest of the group votes on which one to read. Meetings take place in various locations in Brooklyn, New York and last for 120 minutes.

While the club is not currently accepting new members for our in-person meetings, we encourage others to follow along and engage with our reading selections on Instagram. By using social media, TBN Book Club NYC hopes to reach a wider audience and promote community, critical thinking, and joy through Black literature and art.

Our Mission:

At TBN Book Club NYC, our mission is to promote reading and critical engagement with literary and other art forms within Black communities. We strive to create a culture of reading that centers Black stories and voices and fosters discussions about their significance.

We also aim to highlight the work of Black creatives and provide opportunities for networking, community engagement, and relationship building. We believe that connecting with others who share our interests and values can be empowering and enriching.

In addition, we seek to create safe spaces where Black people can come together to discuss important topics that affect our communities. We recognize the importance of having open and honest conversations about issues such as race, identity, and social justice, and we strive to facilitate those conversations in a supportive and respectful environment.

Finally, we are committed to engaging in service projects that align with our readings and further enrich and support our communities. We believe that reading and service can be powerful tools for personal and collective growth, and we seek to use them to make a positive impact in the world around us.
